Bethany and Hannah are both really progressing in their respective leagues. Bethany's team, the Tarheels, are 3-1 and Bethany's coach has her playing point guard at every game but her defense is the strongest. She could use a little more confidence to really advance forward and be her best but tis the age! She has strong basketball skills all around but her self-esteem hinders her performance a bit. Her coach is a female who is really sweet and gentle but quite competitive. She has a lot of confidence in Bethany's skills and is trying to work out her insecurities by placing her out of her comfort zone a bit. They have a great team. We just beat a tough team without 3 of our best players! Bethany scored and had great defense.
Hannah has all the confidence in the world but very little understanding of the game. She is quite aggresive out there and steals the ball, grabs it, etc. but is a bit clumsy and needa a little more court/ball awareness. She is fun to watch!
SHe is getting much better each game. Her team, the Buckeyes (yay my fave!), is 4-0 and Todd coaches them. He has done a great job getting all the girls involved. There are 3-4 really strong players on the team and Todd makes sure they are not ball hogs. They have racked up big leads in every game so Todd takes that opportunity to have the star players pass to the less experienced, less-adept players and you can see how these girls really come alive when they are given the chance. It is nice. But they are the talk of the league right now. Our new neighbors have a daughter Hannah's age who came over to play and she is on the same league but a different team. We will play them this weekend. Her dad came over and told Todd "There is this one team everyone is talking about who have been creaming all the teams, including the team that beat us. Their colors are grey and red. We're a little scared to play them. have you played them yet?" and Todd just had to humbly tell him "We're that team". The guy just went "Oh no!" Kind of funny. All I hear each game is how much they love Todd as a coach. The parents and the kids. They really respect him cause he's fair and yet stern. I think Todd really enjoys it too.

The girls are getting so big and so grownup looking. It's so wonderful that you are both so involved with them in their sports and their lives. It's also great that you are having an impact on their world by showing the love of Christ to everyone around them.
ReplyDeleteThe new pics are great. I am so glad that Grandma has been able to be a part of both Hannah and Bethany's lives. I love to be able to hear about what the girls are doing both thru your blog and first hand from Grandma too! It is so great that the girls are doing well and enjoying playing sports, and even more so that you guys have been able to keep a front row seat to all it. I only pray that Jer and I will be able to do the same for Andrew as well as any other child we may have in the future. Thank you for the updates, it makes me feel like we are so much closer! I only wish that we could be there! God bless!
